By way of concluding this series of studies, a high-speed card based on various results obtained in the series was built. To reduced the fiber density on the cylinder and improve cleaning action in the lickerin and flat parts, the new card was designed with thee following features :<BR> 1) The lickerin, the cylinder, and the doffer were reduced in diameter and increased in speed compared with conventional card.<BR> All of them are equipped with, metallic wire. The wire mounted on the cylinder has a large tooth angle. The wire mounted on the doffer has a small tooth angle. That is. Compared with the tooth angles of wires on the conventional card.<BR> 2) An air suction type lickerin screen is installed under the lickerin roll. Besides the ordinary revolving flats, which are equipped with wire fillet clothing and revolved slower than on the conventional card, several stationary flats equipped with metallic wire of a special shape are located between the lickerin and the revolving fiats.<BR> 3) A hydraulic coupling is used in the driving part. Self-lubricated ball bearings are in all the revolving parts. An automatic stop device is installed in toiler parts. Vacuum, conveyor, and screw roll systems are used as automatic cleaning devices. A spinning test with cotton blended for 40 s count yarn has shown that the production can be raised with no degradation of slivers or yarns and the waste of cotton can be reduced measurably compared with the conventional card.
