Deactivation Analysis of a Cu/ZnO-based Catalyst for Water Gas Shift Reaction at Low Temperature

The deactivation rate equation for a commercial Cu/ZnO-based water gas shift catalyst was derived based on a higher order power law sintering rate equation. Parameters in the equation were then calculated from experimental data over a short period under severe deactivation conditions (250-350°C). The predicted values, which were calculated from the 11th order deactivation rate equation, were in good agreement with the experimental values over a long period (1000 h) under practical conditions (200°C).
