The residue after estimation of loss of ignition of a beryl sample collected in Sugiyama district of Saga Pref. was fused with KOH-Na<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB>-HNO<SUB>3</SUB> Mixture, treated with 80 % H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB>, the H<SUB>2</SUB>SiO<SUB>3</SUB> removed, the solution was neutralized with NaOH, the FeS and NiS were removed by treating the solution with H<SUB>2</SUB>S in acetate buffer solution, the filtrate was treated with NH<SUB>4</SUB>NO<SUB>2</SUB> for precipitation of hydroxides of Al, Be and Fe (III), and for separation from Ca, Mg and Na. The precipitate was treated with ether-HCl mixture for removal of Fe, the Al was precipitated as Al oxinate, the filtrate was treated with conc H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB>-HNO<SUB>3</SUB> mixture for decomposistion of the excess oxine, the solution was neutralized with NaOH, Be(OH)<SUB>2</SUB>, was separated as a precipitate with NH<SUB>4</SUB>OH. Since the precipitate contained a small amount of H<SUB>2</SUB>SiO<SUB>3</SUB>, it was heated with HF and conc H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB> for removal of SiF<SUB>4</SUB>, the residue was heated to obtain a pure BeO, the BeO was treated with 80% H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB>, concentrated and the residue recrystallized from hot water to give BeSO<SUB>4·</SUB>4 H<SUB>2</SUB>O. The beryl contained Si0<SUB>2</SUB>.57.89, BeO11. 98, Fe<SUB>2</SUB>0<SUB>3</SUB>, 1. 02, Al<SUB>2</SUB>, O<SUB>3</SUB> 22. 43, CaO 1.18, Na<SUB>2</SUB>O 2. 26, and MgO 1.48%, with loss on ignition 1.82%. The stracture of beryl was close to 3 BeO · Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> ·4 SiO<SUB>2</SUB>.
