In the analysis of Be in a solution containing each ion of Cu, Fe (III), Zn, Ni, Mn and Ti, the solution is made slightly acid with a mixture of HAc and NH<SUB>4</SUB>Ac, metals other than Be are separated by precipitating them as oxinates, the filtrate is converted into Be(OH)<SUB>2</SUB> by a usual method, then it is ignited and weighed as BeO. An aggregate close to the composition of beryl with 11.54 % BeO as a sample is fused in a mixture of KOH, Na<SUB>2</SUB>CO<SUB>3</SUB> and KNO<SUB>3</SUB>, the product is treated with 80 % H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB>, the precipitate of H<SUB>2</SUB>SeO<SUB>3</SUB> removed, the solution neutralized with NaOH, acetate buffer solution added, H<SUB>2</SUB>S passed in to remove the precipitate of FeS and NiS, then treated with NH<SUB>4</SUB>NO<SUB>2</SUB> to obtain hydroxides of Al and Be and to separate from Ca and Mg, the solution treated with ether-HCl mixture to remove AlCl<SUB>3</SUB>·6H<SUB>2</SUB>O, the Al and Fe remaining in the filtrate are precipitated as oxinates, the filtrate treated with NH<SUB>4</SUB>OH to precipitate Be(OH)<SUB>2</SUB> and this is determined as BeO by usual method. Since the BeO thus obtained contains SiO<SUB>2</SUB>, as an impurity, it is heated with H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB> and HF to remove the SiO<SUB>2</SUB> and to obtain the residue of a pure BeO.
