Fundamental investigations with the experimental design analysis have been carried out on the potentiometric titration with potassium ferrocyanide for the determination of zinc.<BR>(1) Hydrochloric acid system : The titration in this system is also sufficiently quantitative. The acid concentration is the dominant factor provided the salt concentration is higher than 0.4<I>N</I>, the optimum range being 0.10.2<I>N</I>.<BR>(2) Sulfuric acid system : The concentration ratio of acid/salt is the dominant factor and its ratio in <I>N</I> unit should exceed 0.6. The fact shows that the salt concentration can be changed widely if the system is in comparatively high acid concentration. That is an important and very recommendable point differing from that in hydrochloric acid system. The optimum range of acid concentration is 0.21.5<I>N</I>.<BR>(3) The statistical investigation of standard curves obtained from the two potentiometries and the JIS method shows that the JIS Method is nearly comparable to the potentiometries.
