• The sliding skin graft (SSG) method is advocated for severe anal stenosis due to chronic anal fissure. Although the healing rate of SSG is excellent, some complications of minor incontinence, skin scar, skin tag or abnormal sensitivity occur frequently. Therefore strict criteria for application of SSG must be provided to prevent these complications. An alternative method of SSG, the extended skin graft (ESG) method was reported previously, and has now been modified. The surgical procedure and theory of ESG are reported.
