From the latter part of the 1990's, significant changes taking place in Chinese military strategic planning were noticed. This military strategy aims at the unification with Taiwan by force. This research will study the following questions: In the 1990's, what sort of strategic debates had taken inside the Chinese military forces? How, and through which route were the results of these debates sent to the leader of Army and State? How have these influenced the shift in Chinese military strategic planning? In the conclusion, this paper will analyze the characteristics of Chinese military strategies. This study has received the support of a research grant provided by the Ministry OF Foreign Affairs.
