Takehiko Kurushima lived in Nara city from after the war 1945(Year of the Emperor, Showa 20)until 1953(Year of the Emperor, Showa 28). During his days in Nara, he was involved in women’s education as an advisor for the private school “Narajo-juku”, and for early childhood education as a founder of the“Isagawa Kindergarden”. He also went on many tours about Japanese fairy tales. This paper examined Kurushima’s days in Nara based on his private papers and letters, along with the information obtained through interviews from those who are still involved in the Nara Fairy Tale Association; “Narajo-juku”; and the Denkou temple. The data revealed that Kurushima took his“Narajo-juku”students on lecture trips, and also made the “Jizo Ondo”that is still used by the Denkou temple. His accomplishments during the eight years in Nara were the pinnacle of his life as a story teller.
