The synephrine contents in the peels from 42 species and caltivars of the genus Citrus and in those from two Fortunella and one Poncirus species, which were closely related to the genus Citrus, were compared by using gas chromatography. Derivatization of synephrine to tnmethylsilyl ether and extraction of the volatile derivatives were carried out by gasified-solvent- flow-extraction apparatus. Specimens were collected at various seasons and the seasonal changes in the synephrine contents of these peels also were studied.
