The author's new modification of the circulatory extractor for the continuous exraction of crude drugs (especially for the systematic extraction, changing the solvents with little trouble) is believed to be superior to various other prior laboratory extractors, on the following points:-・. the material (m), coarsely powdered rude drug to bo extracted, is always soaked in the solvent, as in 2, 4 and 6, whereas in 3 and 5 it is but washed by the solvent, and in 7 and 8 intermittently in the solvent;【for the solvent of higher boiling point, better to make (vt) right end higher】 2. the quantity of the solvent (s) in the receiving flask (f) is almost always constant, as in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, whereas in 7 and 8 it is intermittently, sometimes in a large and sometimes in a small quantity 【When the solvent is removed to the extracting tube (e), leaving a little in the flask (f), bad influence to the extracted substance is expected, and when the solvent over flows from the extracting tube (e) into the receiver (f), explosive effervescence is feared】; 3. the extracted solution of bigger specific gravity flows out from the bottom of the extracting tube, as in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, whereas in 2 the solution flows from the upper portion smaller in the specific gravity; 4. the extracted solution flows quickly through the narrow tube (fc), as in 6, 7 and 8, whereas in 4 extracted solution overflows slowly through between inner and outer tubes (e); 5. the temperature of the extracting tube can be controlled by warming or cooling with water (w), on a water bath or in a beaker (b) with the water level kept constantly by a regulator (r) attached to the edge of the beaker (b) (with pieces of rubber, as in 2, 4, whereas in 3, 6 and 7 the extracting tube is always in the boiling temperature, and in 5 and 8 in the room temperature.
