Wireless sensor network plays an important role for both civil and military applications in recent years. Unfortunately, existing protocols such as LEACH protocol only aim to reduce the energy dissipation of network but ignore the connection between victims and rescue team in rescue operation. In this paper we propose an improved protocol on LEACH called LEACH-Rescue (LEACH-R) which focuses on reducing energy dissipation of the sensor nodes which are monitoring victims and help rescue team to connect with victims efficiently.
