The study measured both accuracy and fluency in the selection of the indefinite article. As was predicted, there was a significant positive relationship between accuracy and fluency in the selection of the indefinite article (the greater the speed, the higher the accuracy). It was also found that the selection of the indefinite article was faster and more accurate in countable environments than in uncountable environments, thus proving the effect of countability in accurate and fluent selection of the indefinite article. As for concrete nouns that can be used both as count nouns and as uncount nouns, the judgement concerning the use of the indefinite article was more accurate and faster when the same noun was referring to an individual unit than when it was referring to a substance, indicating the need to teach that countability is not fixed and may vary depending on whether the referent is considered to be a unit or a substance. As for abstract nouns that can be used as countable and uncountable nouns, the use of the indefinite article was very inaccurate.
