We introduce an optical multilevel-based PON for meeting the demands of future access networks and demonstrate experimentally a 10Gbit/s QPSK-based PON with a reduced bandwidth. Using a feed-forward equalizer with an adaptive algorithm, 10Gbit/s data transmission is achieved with a limited bandwidth of 1.7 GHz allowing for the use of 2.5-Gbit/s electronics.
