In this study, we fabricated chitosan/bovine serum albumin (CS/BSA) micropatterns on organically functionalized Ti surfaces by soft lithography in order to clarify the size effect and geometry effects micropatterns on cell behavior. The osteoblast culture indicated that CS/BSA composite micropatterns could influence cell attachment and cells selectively adhered in the CS region at initial culturing stage. Micropatterns could also affect cell proliferation and differentiation. Our findings may provide new insights into the mechanism of cell response to micro geometry of biomaterial surfaces.
