The interim standard for ship manoeuvrability (IMO, A.751 (18)) was adopted in November 1993. It has been regarded as the interim standard as yet. But it is certain that the prediction for ship manoeuvrability at design stage will be required in the near future. Under the circumstances, making use of ship trial data and experiment of PMM test in circular water channel, we have estimated the way of ship manoeuvrability. In the first report, we evaluated the effect on the coefficient and the characteristic of ship manoeuvrability in difference of trim and displacement. In consequence, we came to the following conclusion. Effect on linear hydrodynamic derivatives. (1) The change in trim and displacement of the ship has relatively great influence on the linear hydrodynamic derivatives except for linear hydrodynamic derivative Yr'. (2) As displacement decreasing, peculiarity indicated above (1) is more conspicuous. (3) The linear hydrodynamic derivatives is gradually increased or decreased in difference of trim. Moreover, there is a difference of about 30% between in even keel and in 3% Lpp trim. Effect on ship manoeuvrability. (1) There is a different way of turning ability in each displacement among full load, ballast condition and scantling draft. (2) As trim increasing, there is the inclination to decreasing overshoot angle. On the contrary, as displacement increasing, there is little inclination to decreasing overshoot angle by trim. In this report, we would pay attention to the relative derivatives ε and γ. We estimated the formula of ε and γ which are based on the parameter for the stern form of the ship besides the principal dimensions. Moreover, we indicated the formula of estimated characteristics of ship manoeuvrability in full load to be based on ship trial data in ballast condition.
