In order to keep safety of ship manoeuvrability, the interim standard for ship manoeuvrability (IMO, A.751) was adopted in November 1993. It has been regarded as the interim standard as yet. But it is certain that the prediction for ship manoeuvrability at design stage will be required in the near future. We would pay attention to the different conditions between of the interim standard in IMO and of trial test in the dockyard. The standard demands to carry out manoeuvring test in full load with even keel, on the contrary, our dockyard carries out in ballast condition with trim except for tanker. In this paper, we evaluated the effect on the coefficient and the character of ship manoeuvravility in difference of trim and displacement. To begin with, we carried out the experiment of the ship manoeuvrability in any kinds of conditions by means of PMM Test (Planar Motion Mechanism Test) and obtained the linear and nonlinear hydrodynamic derivatives. The second, we simulated the ship manoeuvrability in each condition by means of Kijima's code widely used for a design tool. The third, we compared the result with the trial test in our dockyard and estimated the accuracy of each other. In consequence of the study, we could take some direction for the prediction of ship manoeuvrability between in ballast condition with trim and in full load with even keel.
