OFDM system is very good for the high speed data communication because of the high spectral efficiency and the robustness to the frequency-selective fading. Since the high PAPR, nonlinear distortion can be produced in the nonlinear HPA (high power amplifier), and the efficiency of power amplifier in transmitter becomes poor. So, it is very important to reduce of the IMD value to overcome the nonlinear distortion. In the point of BER performance, IMD reduction strategy is better than the PAPR reduction strategy in the presence of non-linear distortion. However, IMD reduction strategy increases the system complexity so much because FFT processor should be added in transmitter and decision criterion of IMD reduction strategy is justified in frequency domain. In this paper, we propose a new IMD reduction strategy with reduced computational complexity. We apply this proposed IMD reduction strategy into SPW, and compare the computational complexity between ordinary and proposed IMD reduction strategies. SPW method is to divide the input OFDM data into several sub-blocks and to multiply phase weighting with each sub-blocks, properly for the reduction of PAPR or IMD value. As the proposed strategy computes the power of IMD in time domain, FFT processor is not necessary in transmitter. So it can reduce the system size and computational complexity. Also, new IMD reduction strategy shows similar BER performance to the ordinary method.
