Structure and floristic composition of beech forests at Tenjin One (wide ridge) and dynamics of litter fall during three years at Machiga stand near Yubiso River were investigated. Tenjin-daira stand is located at 1320 m in altitude, and inclination of the stand is 26° and the direction of slope is NEN. Tenjin-touge (pass) stand is at 1500m in altitude, 8°-10° in inclination and the direction of slope NNW. Area of these stands was two of 10 × 10m^2 quadrat. The maximum tree height and DBH_<max> of Tenjin-daira stand were 15.5m and 53.8cm for beech. At Tenjin-touge stand, the maximum tree height and DBH_<max> were 11.0m and 27.4cm for beech. In Tenjin-daira stand, trees having more than 2cm in DBH are mainly Fagus crenata, Clethra barbinervis, Fraxinus languinosa, Viburnum fulcatum, Lindera umbellata var. aurantiaca, Acer Tschonoskii, Magnolia salicifolia, M. obovata and so on. In Tenjin-touge stand they are Fagus crenata, Fraxinus languinosa, Viburnum fulcatum, Acer Tschonoskii, A. rufinerve, Magnolia salicifolia, Tritomodon campanulatus var. Palibini, Quercus mongolica var. procumbens, Hamamelis japonica and so on. There was small difference in species composition between two stands. In herb layer there are Sasa paniculata, Schizocodon soldanelloides var. magnus, Licopodium serratum, Plagiogyria Matsumurana, Clintonia udensis, Heloniopsis orientalis, Smilacina yesoensis and so on in both stands. The total Basal area of beech were 4521.6cm^2 and 2366cm^2/100m^2 at Tenjin-touge stand. Density of beech were 1100-2000/ha at Tenjin-daira, and 1400-3400/ha at Tenjin-touge stand. Vertical structure of beech forest at Tenjin-touge stand was simpler than that of Tenjin-daira stand by considering tree height diagram, crown depth diagram and H〜H_L relation diagram. DBH-sequence relation and DBH distribution of the two stands suggested that these beech forest were stable. The annual amount of litter fall during from May to April of the next year were 2.7 ton/ha in 1974, 2.6 ton/ha in 1975 and 4.9 ton/ha in 1976 at Machiga stand. The amout of fallen nuts of beech was 1.57 ton/ha in 1976. This amount was 135 times as that in 1975.
