Possible Shape Isomers at High-Spin States of N=83 Isotones(Nuclear physics)

Decays of high-spin isomers (HSIs) with I^π=49/2^+ in ^<143>Nd and ^<147>Gd are studied in terms of shape isomerism. Observed large hindrance factors of the electric dipole (E1) transition deexciting HSI in ^<143>Nd and the electric quadrupole (E2) transition deexciting HSI in ^<147>Gd are analyzed by using configurations and deformations obtained by deformed independent particle model calculations. It is pointed out that the strongly hindered decays of HSIs indicate a clear manifestation of the shape differences between HSIs and feeding states by their decays.
