The author injected the aqueous solutions of sodium acetate of various concentrations, each 0.5 cc per Kg, iti rabbits and obtained systematically their eftect on the maximal and the minimal blood pressure and pulse. By intravenous injection of 22.7% solution, the maximal blood pressure decreased on the average by 7.8%, the minimal dlood pressure decreased on the average by 11.4% and the pulse rate showed an average decrease of 18.1%, immediately after the injection. All these changes were restored gradually. The changes which were caused by intravenous injection of 13.6% solution ware nearly equal to those of the case above mentioned, but their degrees were smaller than the latter and in the pulse curve amplitude an average increase of 26% was obtained. By intravenous injection of 6.8% solution, a slight decrease was caused only in the pulse rate, and in the blood pressure and in the pulse curve amplitude no marked change was obtained. By subcutaneous injection of 22.7% solution the blood pressure and the pulse rate decreased also, and the decrease was caused gradually and was slighter in degree compared with the decrease which was caused by intravenous injection of the solution. In a word, the ratio of descent (the value of descent compared with the original value) of the minimal blood pressure was higher than that of the maximal blood pressure, and the pulse rate evidently decreased.
