An effective potential method proposed in a previous work for the treatment of a hardcore potential of core radius a is generalized so as to be applicable to the potential problem up to terms of all orders in a, assuming that a is much smaller than the unperturbed wavelength. This method is applied to the ground state energy of a many-fermion system of hard spheres.
