Methyl mercury chloride was administered to rats and the degeneration of fiber that resulted was investigated using Nauta-Gygax and Fink-Heimer stains. The following results were obtained. 1) Degeneration of fiber was found in Nucleus proprius cornu posterior, Funiculus posterior, Dorsal colum nucleus, Tractus spinalis n. trigemini, Nucleus tr. spinalis n. trigemini. 2) There was no relationship between the amount of the total doses of organic mercury compound and degeneration of fiber, since degeneration was also found in cases where a low concentration of organic mercury had been administered over a log period. 3) Degeneration was found in the nucleus and tractus of the sensory motoe system, but was not found in the cerebellum and cerbral cortex. 4) It is supposed that neuropathological changes first appeared in the fiber and later in the cells.
