In order to study the roles played by the limbic system, the amygdaloid complex and the hippocampus in the regulation of blood sugar level, the changes of blood sugar level were measured by SOMOGYI-NELSON's method. Electrodes were implanted in dogs intra-cerebrally and electric stimulations were given to the amygdaloid complex and the hippocampus. The result obtained in this investigation are summarized as follows : 1. When the lateral principal nucleus was stimulated, the most significant increase in the blood sugar level was observed. 2. The electrical stimulation of the basal nucleus caused a slight increase in the blood sugar level. 3. No significant changes in the blood sugar level were recognized when other subnucleus of amygdaloid complex were stimulated. 4. In regard to the blood sugar level, the subnucleus in the amygdaloid complex appears to have a different function. 5. When the formatio hippocampus was stimulated, no definite changes were noted in the blood sugar level. 6. Changes in the blood sugar level were temporal responses to stimulation of the amygdaloid and the hippocampus. 7. All these observations appear to indicate that the amygdaloid complex plays some regulative roles in relation to the hypothalamus.
