The Space Technology Demonstration Research Center (STDRC) has studied small and micro satellites since 1998. The circumstances have changed since MicroLabSat was launched in 2002. In 2004, 50kg-class satellite project was started by a collaboration of small and medium-sized companies and the local university. In 2005, a 100kg-class satellite project was initiated to provide a useful platform for the critical components of a large satellite and new space mission technology. We have been studying the highly functional small satellite, MicroLabSat-II since 2003. This paper describes overview of Space Technology Demonstration by using small and micro satellites in JAXA
