The catalytic properties of the amorphous ribbons were studied on the hydrogenation reaction of carbon monoxide to yield hydrocarbons chiefly ranging from methane to propane. The activity changed for about 10 hrs. from the start of a run and then converged to a constant value, which was maintained at least for 30 hrs. at the temperature 73℃ below the crystallization point. Also, the constant activity were not dependent on the pretreatment procedures of the ribbons. The amorphous ribbon was 10 to 30 times more active than the ST and MS II phases of the same composition.
