The kinetics of the transformation of retained austenite into martensite at subatmospheric temperature after aging was investigated with three kinds of steels and an iron-nickel alloy. The transformation showed complicated changes consisting of the four stages. Stabilization phenomena in retained austenite occurred in the first stage and consisted of three kinds of mechanisms.
