• The microhardness of aluminium single crystals in well-annealed state and its change in the course of deformation were measured with the microhardness tester newly designed in our laboratory, the applied load being 8 gr. It was found that in well-annealed state the fluctuation of hardness was fairly large, and that in the hardness-strain curve two valleys existed, one in the range of the first yielding and the other in the neighbourhood of the outset of double slip. No report, have hitherto been made of these results.
