Applying the catalytic behaviour of osmium on the reduction of ceric ion with arsenious acid, the relation between the time required for the decoloration of cericion and the amount of osmium added is found with the Ukena's colorimeter, which renders it possible to determine 0.3-1.8γ of osmium by the time measurement under the same condition. The determinations at several temperatures or in the presence of some diverse ions were studied.
