This is the 8th part of the revisional study of the genus Plesiophthalmus and its allied genera. It deals with two species-groups of the genus Plesiophthalmus, each with its relatives : the species-group of P. fuscoaenescens, with P. fuscoaenescens FAIRMAIRE, 1898, P. borchmanni KASZAB, 1957, P. punctatus M. T. CHUJO, 1979, and P. kumejimensis MASUMOTO, 1987 ; the species-group of P. tonkinensis, with P. tonkinensis (FAIRMAIRE, 1903), comb. nov., P. convexus (PIC, 1914), comb. nov., P. semicupreus (PIC, 1914), comb. nov., P. semialutaceus (PIC, 1922), comb. nov., P. yunnanus (PIC, 1952), comb. nov., P. girardi sp. nov., P. fumosus sp. nov., P. hainanensis sp. nov., P. jessopi sp. nov., P. siamensis sp. nov., and P. annamensis sp. nov. Both Cyriogeton pulchrum PIC, 1926, and C. convexum, var. auricolle PIC, 1952, and also both C. coomani PIC, 1926, and C. tonkinense, var. vitalisi PIC, 1952, are newly treated as junior synonyms of P. convexus (PIC) and P. semicupreus (PIC), respectively. Keys to the species of each group are also given.
