This is the 6th part of the revisional study of the tenebrionid genus Plesiophthalmus and its allied genera, and deals with two species-groups of the former : spectabilis group and davidis group. The spectabilis group consists of three known species and a new species : Plesiophthalmus spectabilis HAROLD, 1875 (P. arciferens FAIRMAIRE, 1878, and P. subparallelus PIC, 1916, are newly synonymised) ; P. atronitidus PIC, 1923 ; P. colossus KASZAB, 1957 ; P. maniti sp. nov. The davidis group consists of nine species, of which seven are hitherto known and two are newly described. In addition to these, three known species are newly synonymised. Its members are as follows : P. davidis FAIRMAIRE, 1878 (=P. lentus HEYDEN, 1887, syn. nov.) ; P. anthrax FAIRMAIRE, 1903 (=P. subnitidipennis PIC, 1934, syn. nov.) ; P. ater PIC, 1930 ; P. pieli PIC, 1937 (=P. niger KASZAB, 1957, syn. nov.) ; P. longipes PIC, 1938 ; P. morio PIC, 1938 ; P. formosanus MIWA, 1939 ; P. inexpectatus sp. nov. ; P. opacus sp. nov. Lectotypes are designated for P. atronitidus PIC, 1923, and also for P. pieli PIC, 1937.
