The shear wave velocity and the attenuation of ultrasonic waves in paraffin wax, which is a mixture of many paraffin hydrocarbons, were measured at 1 MHz using the pulse transmission method in the temperature range from 10 to 80℃ exceeding the melting temperature of 44-46℃. By combining the present experimental data with our previous data on compressional wave velocity, the elastic properties of paraffin wax during melting and solidification were derived. Markedly high adiabatic compressibility during melting and solidification was obtained in the melting temperature region.
