The shear wave velocity and the attenuation of ultrasonic waves in salol have been measured using the pulse transmission method in the temperature range from 10 to 80℃ through the melting temperature of 42℃. The frequency of the ultrasonic wave was 1 MHz. The shear wave velocity immediately below the melting point was 670 m/s. By combining the present results with our previous data on the compressional wave velocity, an analysis on the variation in elastic properties of salol during its melting and solidification processes was performed.
