Effect of Impurity Aggregation on the Shift of Thermoluminescence Glow Peak of X-Irradiated KCl:Sr^<2+>

It is found that the heat treatment of KCl:<Sr>^<2+> crystals before irradiation causes a considerable shift of the glow peak maximum to lower temperatures, even if the crystals contain the same concentration of <Sr>^<2+> ions (0.03 mol%). A detailed analysis of the experimental results is carried out by using the rate equations, which provide two types of trapping centers for the interstitial ions. The shift of peak maximum is found to be explained by considering the effect of the interstitial ions trapped at the complexes which have been dispersed by the heat treatment.
