An Analysis of Stiffened Vibration for Torsional Crystal Resonators and Its Application to Quartz Crystal

In this paper, stiffened vibration for torsional crystal resonators is discussed, and the obtained results are applied to quartz crystal. A relationship of stress vector T, strain vector S, electric displacement vector D, and electric field vector E is derived using the conditions of a bar, and torsional rigidity C_t is obtained from the electrical condition. In particular, piezoelectric terms of quartz crystal have slight influence upon frequency constant, the first and second order temperature coefficients α, β.
