Crystallization Characteristics of Phase-Change Media by Laser Pulse-Train Irradiation

A pulse-train method, which uses a laser beam as a highly frequent pulse train, is investigated to crystallize phasechange optical disk media. In this method, the laser power for crystallization can be controlled more easily than in conventional DC-irradiation. This method is especially effective for media with a narrow power margin for crystallization.
