Order Re-Equilibration Kinetics within the B2 and DO_3 Phases of Fe_3Al

The re-equilibration kinetics of short-range order within the B2 disordered phase, and of short- and long-range order within the DO_3 ordered phase have been studied in Fe_3Al with in situ X-ray scattering. For quenches within the B2 phase, the diffuse intensity I^s(t) and correlation length ξ(t) relax exponentially at the same rate. For shallow quenches within the DO_3 phase, the long-range-order Bragg intensity I^L(t) as well as I^s(t) and ξ(t), all relax exponentially but with different rates. For deep quenches, however, nonexponential behavior of I^s(t) and ξ(t) is observed, consistent with formation of new long-range order from fluctuations.
