Surface potential of corona-charged ultrathin films of a polyacetylene derivative, poly(1-trimethylsilyl-1-propyne), increases with increasing corona voltage, tending to saturate at some limited value V_<th>. From this V_<th>. value, the breakdown strength is evaluated to be 200 MV/cm, 50 MV/cm and 1.5 MV/cm for films with a 40 Å, 200 Å and 1 μm thickness, respectively. Resistivity of the sample was also evaluated from the decaying characteristics of the surface potential.
