Electrical Conductivity and Thermoelectric Power of Heat-Treated Poly (p-phenylene) Films

Poly(p-phenylene) films were heat-treated at various temperatures up to 2800' C.Heat-treated films are stable in air and show the wide range of electrical conductivityand are remarkably enhanced by heat-treatment above 600' C , which is interpreted interms of the carbonization. Heat-treated films yield small positive thermoelectricpower. From temperature dependences of electrical conductivity and thermoelectricpower for the films heat-treated above 800'C, the metallic conduction is workingonly in the carbonized fragments.
