Structure and Superconducting Properties of HgBa_2CaCu_2O_y Films Prepared by Laser Ablation

Hg-1212 films were prepared on the (100) SrTiO_3 substrate by laser ablation and subsequent annealing. The as-grown film was annealed with a Hg-1212 bulk pellet in a quartz tube. The superconducting transition temperature T_c(onset) was 123 K and T_c(p=0) was 97 K. This film was shown to have a preferential orientation of the c-axis perpendicular to the (100) SrTiO_3 substrate, and was composed of Hg-1212 platelike grains and Ba-Cu-O compounds.
