The XPS, IR and ^<13>C-NMR spctra of TaF_5-doped poly-phenylenesulfide (PPS) were measured in order to investigate the conductivity mechanism in doped PPS. The result indicate that the double-bond character of the bonds between sulfur atoms and adjacent phenyl rings increases upon doping, which is followed by removal of the electrons from thesulfur atoms. It is suggested that a weak conjugate system is produced by the sulfur atoms in doped PPS.
