The measured toroidal helical field of the JIPP T-II apparatus does not vanish on the geometrical axis of the helical winding, contrary to the prediction of the usual theory. The result of measurement can be explained only by an improved theory. On account of the nonvanishing part of the helical field, the magnetic axis of JIPP T-II should be nonplanar and should be shifted on the average inwards with respect to the geometrical axis.
