The characteristics of gadolinium plasma in gadolinium vapor at high-rate evaporation using electron beam heating have been measured with Langmuir probes. Electron temperature was lower than 0.1 eV and close to the atomic excitation temperature, which was much lower than the evaporation surface temperature. Ion flux ratio to vapor flux was 0.4%. This value agreed well with the estimated value on the assumption that the atoms are ionized by collision with high-energy electron beams.
