Edge Shift Characteristics of a Magnetooptical Edge Detection Signal

We implemented a magnetooptical edge detection system using split sensors. We measured the carrier-to-noise ratio and edge shift quantity of readout signals. The edge shift quantity steeply increases when a recorded domain length in the information track direction becomes shorter than half the diameter of the reading light spot. The edge shift difference between the conventional detection signal and the edge detection signal is discussed.
