The effects of ion bombardment on MoS_2 are studied by means of transimission electron microscope. The bombardment is carried out by air or argon ions of 7 kV. In order to compare the bombarded and non-bombarded regions in one electron-micrograph, a technique of putting MgO smoke crystallites on the specimen is used extensively to make the shadow to the ion beam. In the stage of heavy ion damage, imbricated patterns are obtained as the results of the selective etching. In the stage of light ion damage, broadenings of extinction contours and of dislocation lines are observed. They can be interpreted by the creation of point defects due to the bombardment. In the latter stage, the pair images are also appeared due to the bombardment.
