Observations of Low-Frequency Polaritons in Barium Sodium Niobate

Accurate measurements of low frequency polaritons have been made on the lowest phonon branch of A_1(z) symmetry. Polariton peaks were clearly observed from ω_p=76 cm^<-1> to 18 cm^<-1>. A dispersion relation of polaritons is accurately determined in the region q>90 cm^<-1>. The clamped dielectric constant ε_3=26.6±0.3 is obtained.
