When cartographic records are made by using a Mollenstedt type filter, the energy loss spectra for high order losses become much broader and the quality of the spacial images becomes poorer than those of other filters. The first problem can be corrected by lowering the filter potentials by the voltages corresponding to the energy losses and the second can be improved by applying the deconvolution technique.
