Equations are derived for computing the form of the aberration-free far-field diffraction patterns by various sector apertures. These equations have been used to compute the log-irradiance distribution in the focal plane and the three-dimensional irradiance distribution in meridional planes of a far-field diffraction pattern. The results are discussed and shown graphically. Some experiments were conducted to verify the results of irradiance distribution in the focal plane.
