A Fast Method for an Efficient Reconstruction in Computer Holography

This paper proposes a new high-speed, computer-aided reconstruction method of three-dimensional (3D) objects, as a virtual image from a hologram. The present method is based on the correlation between the hologram of a point source and the hologram of objects. The time of calculation for computer-aided holography is minimized, with increasing the resolution of reconstructed images more than the previous methods. A comparison between the new method and the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method was made for a 3D car model which can be replaced by 3D density profile, for example, in plasma diagnostics. The new method succeeded in the retrieval of the car with speed comparable to the FFT with much better resolution.
