Among high Z materials, molybdenum and tungsten have superior properties for use as structure mateirals for plasma facing components. The key issue of the two materials is to improve the low-temperature embrittlement, recrystallization embrittlement and irradiation embrittlement. The explanation of these embrittlement and the idea to improve the embrittlement are given. The recent progress being made to solve the key issue is described.
