Each seven subjects were chosen from frequently ill patients as well as ordinary employees. Quantity of extracellular fluid and circulating plasma volume were determined in all the subjects. Out of these figures amount of interstitial fluid was calculated. All these three kinds of fluid amount were expressed as percentages of respective body weight. (1) Mean percentage of the amount of the extracellular fluid was 28.31 in the frequently ill patients as against 22.04 in the ordinary employees. This difference is significant at 95% level. (2) Mean percentage of the circulating plasma volume was 2.61 in the frequently ill patients as against 2.82 in the ordinary employees. The difference is too small to be significant. (3) Mean percentage of the interstitial fluid was 22.78 in the frequently ill patients as against 16.35 in the ordinary employees. This difference is significant at 95% level.
